When buying a new furnace or AC in Calgary, understanding AFUE (furnace) and SEER (AC) ratings is essential. Higher numbers mean more efficiency and lower operating costs.
Furnace Efficiency (AFUE)
Look for a minimum 96% AFUE rating for Calgary's cold winters. High-efficiency furnaces qualify for Alberta rebates and pay back the premium within 3-5 years.
Air Conditioner Efficiency (SEER)
